Dear Prospective Member,

Welcome to the University of Kansas! Here at KU we are proud to be home to one of the most prestigious Greek communities in the country. The 22 Interfraternity Council fraternities on our campus have promoted brotherhood, friendship, service, and academics for over one hundred years. I hope that you consider joining our Greek community throughout your four years as a student here.

In joining a fraternity, you will be opening the door to some of the best experiences you can have as a college student. You will have friends the moment you step on campus and begin your collegiate career. Academically, the Greek members are proud to consistently maintain a higher GPA than non-Greek students. You will also have many leadership and philanthropic opportunities that are only available those in the Greek community.

At KU, many prospective members are recruited informally. This simply means that your contact information will be given to our chapters, and then they will contact you about attending their recruitment events, which will give you a chance to get to know more about a chapter and its members.

If you are interested in taking part in our large and popular informal recruitment process please download and fill out the questionnaire. Once you provide this information and email it back to ifcrecruitment@ku.edu I will be able to submit your profile to each fraternity’s recruitment chairman so that they may contact you.

Each summer we also offer a formal recruitment period. During this time, June 20-23, we invite all of our prospective new members to come and stay on campus for four days and visit each fraternity to get to know the men in those chapters. After you have visited with each fraternity you will begin to narrow down your list of which ones you are interested in and return to them the following days. On the last day you will have the opportunity to select the chapter of your choice. If you are interested in taking part in our formal recruitment period please download and fill out the registration form and mail it back to the Interfraternity Council.

I hope that the information provided will assist you in your decision to become a member of our Greek Community. If at anytime throughout the process you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We look forward to seeing you on campus this fall! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Regards,

Tyler Mertel
